Beginning our tour at Capitol Hill, the heart of American Government. Our trip will explore Christian ethics’ impact on policy making and justice by visiting the Capitol Building, Supreme Court and Library of Congress. As our exploration deepens we delve into America’s colorful past at the Museum of American History before opening ourselves up to God’s beauty at the Museum of Natural History.
At Arlington National Cemetery, we honor John F. Kennedy at his gravesite before witnessing the solemn “Changing of the Guards” ceremony at Tomb of Unknown Soldier, which serves as an inspirational testament to sacrifice and selflessness within Christianity.
A visit to Holocaust Museum provides us with a sobering reminder of humanity’s potential for both evil and redemption; here, we reflect upon biblical calls to “love thy neighbor”, while renewing our commitments of tolerance and kindness.
Mt. Vernon will impress us next with its peaceful setting, high above the banks of the Potomac River. Here, we learn about George Washington’s life and presidency while reflecting upon how Christian virtues were manifest in him. Amidst its grandiosity lie memorials dedicated to Jefferson, Lincoln, Washington WWII Vietnam Korea that convey messages of resilience courage unity that are deeply rooted within Christian belief.
Optional visits include visits to the International Spy Museum, Udvar Hazy Center for Science Education in Gettysburg or Monticello which offer unique perspectives on American history and give us opportunities to expand our understanding of Christian principles in different societal environments.
Join us on this pilgrimage that examines how Christian principles continue to shape America today, through this tour examining America’s capital city seen through Christian eyes.
