Christian Family Tour – Most-Popular Sites and Attractions in Washington DC
When it comes to touring Washington DC from a Christian Perspective, there are several sites and attractions to consider visiting. Below is a reliable list of these locations with a brief description of each and how it may relate to Christian History in DC
- White House – Visiting the White House is always an exciting thing. The history of the White House is quite remarkable to say the least. Every President of the United States since John Adams has lived in the Presidential Mansion and each has left their own unique marks in and on the residence.
- Capitol Building – Starting with the National Motto “In God We Trust” the Capitol is one of the first things you will see from the Visitor’s Center. The Capitol has witnessed countless debates and discussions throughout its history. Each day both Houses of Congress begin their day with Prayer.
- Washington Monument – Dedicated to the First President of the United States, George Washington, the Monument is the highest point in DC as it towers slightly more than 555 feet. At the very top is an aluminum capstone which includes the Latin phrase “Laus Deo”, or “Praise be to God”!
- Museum of the Bible – It goes without saying that this amazing museum should be one of the focal points of a Christian Tour to DC. Learn all about the Bible and many of the multiple languages the Bible has been translated to.
- Museum of American History – Though not a “Christian Museum”, the American History Museum offers an insightful look into America’s long history!
- Holocaust Memorial Museum – Visiting the Permanent Exhibit inside the Holocaust Museum is something that is very impactful. Though not for younger children, this exhibit tells a story of events which can never be allowed to repeat. Only the Love of Christ can truly transform one’s heart. This museum shows why the Gospel must be shared with every person.
