Women In Military Service For America Memorial
Located at the western end of Memorial Avenue in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, the Military Women’s Memorial was established to commemorate the bravery and sacrifice of the women in service of the US Armed Forces. It is the only major memorial honoring women in the military.
The memorial is housed in the Hemicycle, which was originally built as the ceremonial entrance to the Arlington National Cemetery. In front, is the Court of Valor with a reflective pool and fountain. The building contains 16 exhibit alcoves for permanent and rotating exhibits, as well as an interactive computerized register of female servicemembers. The displays commemorate the service and bravery of the women in the Armed Forces from all the way back to the Revolutionary War.
